I had the pleasure of attending this place due to work. Everyone was friendly, the place is wonderfully located and the competition was very nicely run. The campsite is a pretty cool feature that make it stand out as a special way to get into the hobby of RC flight.

I have participated in the BMFA membership over a number of years here and there. On returning from work as a professional UAV pilot to flying for leisure. I was greeted by a club member in devon who says that the BMFA does not value the training RAE's deliver that is a requirement from the CAA. And is a clear elevation from just the "club" environment. This shocked me as I have paid thousands for my training of the years including fixed wing at a advanced level. I have also flown in the most challenging airspace in the country over many years. The fact is, my A certificate is not worth anything and my current competencies which allow me to operate commercially is not acknowledged either. I won't mention the individual or the club because there are many like this in devon and are very tricky to engage with. I am not saying I am more qualified (although I am on paper) but what the hell is going on? The CAA need to rip this whole establishment of people that stink of wee and biscuits and breath new life in to the hobby. Also, why should I pay the BMFA for anything considering I am commercially insured myself? Its so backwards, contradicting, and prehistoric. As far as I am concerned, I am a well trained professional and well rehearsed in civil aviation law. All I see in these clubs is people with one foot in the grave whilst the other half fight for the tiny bit of power they have and are mean to new people and others. Such a shame that you endorse behaviour like this and value CAA training so little.
