EDIT: This applies to the student halls (then named Oxford Court) which were present 8 years ago. It has since changed ownership. I am a UOL student who has had the pleasure of living at Oxford Court for the past two years. I also intend to extend my contract here for another year. As I am not a DMU student, it was not an obvious option for me to choose, but I am definitely grateful that I did as I feel very much at home at Oxford Court. As a student who has been an inhabitant of Leicester for five years now, I have had extensive experience of the citys student accommodation. I have no doubts in saying that my stay at Oxford Court has comfortably been the most enjoyable out of all the accommodation in which I have lived during my time here. Oxford Court is in an ideal location; it is only two minutes walk from the DMU campus and is within walking distance of UoL, the Royal Infirmary, the Tigers stadium, the Cathedral and everything of note in Leicester city centre. The rent is affordable and cheaper than the vast majority of rival accommodation services in the city. All utility bills, as well as broadband internet are included in the price of a one-off 75 payment at the beginning of the year. The flats are spacious and clean, and I have never had a problem with any of the facilities. I have stayed in three different flats during my time here and have found the showers, bathrooms and kitchens in all of them to be in good condition and regularly cleaned and maintained by the staff. However, my favourite thing about Oxford Court is the genuine sense of community we have here. My fellow students have been a pleasure to live with; I feel like I have made several lifelong friends in my time here. The staff are all delightful and eminently helpful and will go out of their way to help you as quickly as possible with any problems you might have, whether they be logistical or personal. The staff also arrange free social events such as barbecues, pub nights, bouncy castles and social media competitions which help the students mingle and get to know each other and the staff better. Every employee in my time at Oxford Court has been totally committed to making every students time in Leicester a happy one. In short, my experience of living at Oxford Court has been an absolute pleasure and I would recommend it to any prospective student looking for accommodation. Whether they be new or returning students, they will find at Oxford Court a wonderful place to live and a genuinely loving community of people.
