In tears after the behaviour of the hearing therapist who said there was something wrong with my brain and to get out more. He was more concerned that I did not have a mask on and asked me in public why this was. Then when we was in a room together he continued to interrogate me.

Really disappointed with this service. My mum has been waiting 9 months for her hearing aid when my brother got his in just 7 weeks. His hearing test on the NHS was just 2 months ago, mums was in May 2022!! I can't fault the testing process, the lady was amazing but the service thereafter has been incredibly poor! They told me it would be ready in August 2022 and then in November and then January but each time I find out this news is when I drive to the hospital, park up and go into Hearing Services and speak to someone face to face bacause they refuse to pick up the phone!! I've been in reception and heard it ringing out. The staff don't even acknowledge those waiting at reception which I find dreadfully rude especially as there are lots of older and very frail patients who would not dream of speaking out. I have been so patient but I'm at the end of my tether because yet again I'm calling the number but they refuse to pick up!!!!!! I fear that my 83 year old mum will be dead before her hearing aid is ready!

Very clean and professional, was very understanding with my daughter, and made me and her feel welcome and at ease, only thing is in the child waiting area, they could do with some toys for the little ones.

I came on my own without my mum for the first time. I was 19 years old and it was during covid times so I sort of expected the staff to wear masks (makes communication very difficult). The lady I was sent to didnt remove her mask and find a visor even though I was really struggling, and she proceeded to ask me when I last had new hearing aids fitted. I said around 2018, and she got very annoyed with me and accused me of lying, as the record she had on the computer said it was that year I had new ones (2021). She got very annoyed with me and insisted I had new hearing aids this year, to the point I was crying out of frustration. Then she realised she hadnt changed the record from the last patient that came to her, which then confirmed I did in fact have my last pair in 2018. I was crying and couldnt communicate properly with her at all. They dealt with this well and sent me to the childs hearing lady who removed her mask so I could hear, and confirmed that my current hearing aids would never help me with severe hearing loss, so she booked me in for the day after to get fitted some new ones. I feel like all hearing services staff should be aware of these barriers to communication (masks) and should accept and apologise if they get something wrong. Despite the problem being sorted very well by the other lady (i am very very appreciative), I will still always remember the First Lady and I really hope no one else has to go through what I went through.
