Cakes and bread are really nice, I do find the blonde lady in the week day morning hasnt got very good customer service, the other staff are lovely, shame as shop and goods are great

I cannot believe I've never reviewed my favourite bakery. I guess when you've been a regular at an establishment for over 30 years, it just becomes 'literally' almost a daily staple of your foodie life that you just take for granted, but the reason for the review trigger specifically today, is the latest creation from Toni. My daughters have grown up on Gingerbread cottage birthday cakes and no birthday would be complete without one, so it's only natural that my eldest turning 21 would include the tradition of a Gingerbread cottage birthday cake. As a regular of this place, it's pretty normal for me to order birthday cakes with simple sizes, and colours and give them total carte blanche to do as they wish, and it's also a given that the results would be bang on point, but the latest Toni creation was that little extra special, fitting of any young persons 21st birthday and as it was really busy in the shop yesterday, I didn't get to show my appreciation to Toni, and therefor felt she deserved a personal review into the Google review history books permanently. Making cakes for special occasions is a very important part of that occasion and without it, that occasion just wouldn't be complete, so thank you Toni for this latest cake and all the previous ones, and all the ones I'm pretty sure you will be doing in the future, you're a star baker. PS. It goes without saying, the cobs are always fantastic, the staff are all always jolly and very attentive and this place will always be the highlight of my working day.

I have always liked the Gingerbread Cottage. I now really love it, and here is why... It's one thing to think a business is good-- maybe the people are nice and friendly, the products are good, or maybe they have a great returns policy... However, I've decided above those very important qualities, I rank how the business deals with a problem to be my most trusted litmus test. So, in our case, we ordered a cake back in May for a family member; it was a custom order, and expensive. Was accidently done up in the wrong colour... Spoke to John and he was very quick to sort it. We kept the original cake, and 3 months later he personally delivered another cake for another family member to 'make up' for the original mishap. The new cake was just gorgeous and tasted unbelievably good. Best of all, we have the reassurance that if anything 'goes wrong', there's no 'back and forth' or negotiating needed; the Gingerbread Cottage stand by their products, and handle issues efficiently, and professionally. Best of all, not only does this cement in my mind what a great shop this is, and how brilliant the people who work there are, but it also ensures my repeat business for years to come. I really cannot recommend the Gingerbread Cottage highly enough.
