Hello there
The bearded man in the banking hall today was very helpful and had superb interpersonal skills. He helped me with transferring money from Smart Investor.

What has happened to Barclays? Been with them now for years also have a community account with them. I made a special journey today so that I could deposit community account cheques, paper currency, change before our books are audited. Walked in to find a queue of 8 customers waiting in line (all a tad disgruntled rolling their eyes as theyd been standing in line for some time. There was only one counter opened- and what I would call a meet and greeter standing at the ques head- all the other counters had been removed plaster boarded over and turned into a wall with just a hole in the wall machine built in for self-depositing cheques only. The counter lady was serving a customer for a lengthy period of time then following that just pulled the blind down and closed her position. This was 2.10 on a Tuesday following the Easter bank holiday closures earlier. Following further lengthy waits and seeing that the only staff left now was the greeter who with little resources, knowledge and authority was trying to offer some options to a customer who had several queries. We were advised that as from 2 no counter services and monies could be handled so I would have to come back another day!- In other words we all ended up queuing for self-service machine in the wall which was little help to me as for auditing purposes I needed monies paying in and a stamp on the books. What has happened to Barclays! Inside theres nothing there anymore but an empty tiled room. All lecterns with pens, slips and leaflet dispensers have gone, all seating had been ripped out , one closed counter only and just one member of staff- the greeter pointing everyone to the hole in the wall machine- which we could all see. What a service! Ignoring customers entirely and delivery a dramatically cut down service throughout the Nation it seems- I even enquired if this particular branch was scheduled for closure and the greeter simply shrugged his shoulders and pulled a face- giving me the impression thats its on the cards! Seems Barclays are following a business plan to go from coin currency / traditional banking services to internet, electrontotal reliance upon the internet- Bet the shops and elderly love this service thats being forced upon us all! Very sad state of affairs indeed. Their tag line currently is Wake up your savings- perhaps its Barclays who need to wake up before people start voting with their feet.
