I have always visited Monty's fish and chip cafe on a regular basis but after today's experience, I will never return to eat here. I attended and waited for table service as requested. Even though there was an empty table for 4 I was not offered this but instead was told to sit in the window and wait for another table. I did say I would eat elsewhere. I felt so unwelcome as a lone diner.

Seems to have gone down bank. I moved to Leek in 2013 and honestly you couldnt fault Montys at all until the past two years or so. Nowadays I find the food to be rather dry and small portions, and the staff just dont seem as friendly and enthusiastic as before- they make me feel like a nuisance for ordering food a lot of the time. The one thing I can never fault from montys are the pies and puddings.

So glad to have found this little gem! We've eaten in and taken out, the food was brilliant, environment is clean and the staff/management were very friendly. Would highly recommend.
