Today, when my friend and I went shopping, the lady at the far left counter who was doing manual checkouts made us very uncomfortable with her actions. My friend bought a lot of items, but she didn't ask if we needed a bag (which I believe is a basic question in UK supermarkets). Even when my friend asked for a bag, she pretended not to hear and continued to do so even after my friend repeated the request three or four times, signaling my friend to pay. I'm not sure if it's because we're Asian or because my friend was wearing a mask due to a cold, and I don't want to accuse someone of racial discrimination without evidence, but today's experience was definitely unpleasant for us.

Staff were polite and friendly. I managed to get everything l needed. Everything has gone up though you can still get some good bargains
