I had an appointment with Mr. Zuber Daji for 10am. I arrived at 9:40 and entered the building, the address having been on my referral letter.
I asked for Mr. Daji and was told that there was no-one of that name at the centre. I asked whether the centre was called "Dewsbury One Stop" or "One Stop Shop". The answer was NO. I asked whether the centre had previously been called One Stop Shop; again it was NO.
I told the reception staff that my appointment was to do with diet and health, and was informed that the centre had nothing to do with health - they need to read their signage outside the building - because HEALTH is listed.
The staff weren't particularly helpful and I was made to feel a bit foolish.
There was no other centre along Dewsbury Road that matched my instructions so I came home. I missed my appointment, which I NEVER do.
Fortunately, Mr Zuber Daji phoned me just after 10 o'clock and we had a short consultation over the phone.
I returned to the centre and produced my referral letter for the staff to read. The manager of the building came out and told me that she had been told I was asking for "George"! How does that sound like Mr. Daji?
Surely, any competent person would ask reception if they'd heard the name correctly, as there was no-one called George in the building, so would they check.
I was made to feel I was at fault because I'd asked for someone who didn't exist!
AND - it turned out that the centre was originally called "One Stop Shop". Non of the three personnel I spoke with couldn't make the connection that I was actually in THE RIGHT PLACE. They need a renewal in Customer Service practice and also be aware of what services the centre offers.
I would have given NO stars but the form doesn't allow me to.
Kathryn Smith.
