Went to the eye clinic after a sudden influx of floaters and pains in my eye... the staff were very nice I have to say, but I'm disgusted by the level of standards. The ophthalmologist looked at my eye, saw a small tear, got a second opinion and told me to carry on as normal. They said it wasn't even an abnornality. "If you see dark spots or black, come back to us" They didn't even tell me it was a small tear! I came to Poland and got a second opinion. Turns out these minor tears can very easily get worse, and the pain is caused by the eye liquid getting into the hole, which can lift the retina, causing detatchment. I was recommended to get photocoagulation laser surgery as a precautionary measure to prevent the tear from expanding. If the NHS had its own way, i'd be half blind for a few days then get full on invasive emergency eye surgery. Precautionary measures are far more effective than combative.
