whatever you do do not come here! you are not welcome and are made to feel idiotic and bad about yourself. Digs and constant snide comments is all you receive here. 'Senior examiner' Gillion is one of the nastiest people i have ever had the joys of being taught by, she also thinks that she is a way better dancer than she actually is. However when taught by one of the other teachers you find that the experience is one of joy so i think the main problem is her. There is no way to avoid her though so it is best to just stay away from priestly theatre dance school

I went to Priestley Theatre Dance School from the age of 4 until I moved away to go to university, and sometimes go to adult tap classes over the summer since being taught there has always been such a pleasure! It gave me a huge confidence boost as a child to go somewhere that provided me with skill, opportunity, and friends, and now my niece goes there too! The school and everyone who works towards making it a success are fantastic, I wouldn't trust a review written by someone who can't spell the name of the place which is written at the top for them to copy.

I was absolutely appalled to read the very negative review about Gillian and her dance school. I have been going here for 22+ years. The dance school was recommended to me for my daughter by the grandma of Michelle Potter, who was a pupil at the time and has since performed in many west end musicals The fact that Michelle's profile on the theatre programmes always mentions this dance school as the place that taught her her trade is a great testiment to Gillian, but I digress. My daughter attended from the young age of 3 and was joined by her elder brother for a few years. We moved to north Leeds when she was five but I had no hesitation in commuting from one side of the city to another, often 4-5 times a week, as she was progressing well and very content. The atmosphere within the dance school is a very welcoming one and the rapport between parents, grandparents etc has never changed over the years and is informal and happy; the credit for this must be shared with Gillain and her husband, he knows how to make a great coffee. My granddaughters have been going for two years now; there is nowhere else my daughter wanted them to go That in my opinion sums up the respect she has for Gillians ability as a dance teacher but the happy experience which has enabled her to make great friends (Gillian included of course) that will last long into the future. Please do not hesitate to go and find all this out for yourself, you will always be welcome.

I have danced at Priestley Theatre since I was 2 and I couldn't even imagine dancing anywhere else. It has been a pleasure to be taught by all of the teachers here. Gillian, the rest of the teachers, and everyone else I have come across at Priestley Theatre have always been encouraging and helpful, as well as being truly lovely people. The door is always open to new pupils of any level and if anyone I knew wanted to learn to dance I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Priestley Theatre - in fact, my mother teaches nursery children and regularly recommends Priestley Theatre to anyone at her school who wishes to learn to dance. I don't know anyone who has had a negative experience with Gillian or any of the other teachers, and personally my experience here has been nothing but positive.
