Whilst the place looks nice there are flaws and I dont think a disabled person in a wheelchair had any say in the refurbishment. The internal area downstairs has been really well done but for me its the car park and access to other parts of the building that bother me . Starting with the car park its obvious that the car park is not large enough ! There were cars parked on the side of the carpark which didnt have double yellow lines but in doing so caused problems for those lucky enough to get a parking space . Signage in the car park is limited and there are no footpaths at all. You have to cross in front or behind other vehicles to get to the footpath . There are at least 6disabled bays but because of the tight layout and bad parking they can be difficult to get in or out of especially if you have a large car . Leaving little bushes and a little bit of grass has been a mistake here I think . Once you get to the footpath around the building you find its all flat and levellish !The path leads around to the main entrance .The double doors slide open automatically and you find yourself in a large open plan space with the library on your left and one stop/job/Council on your right . It has been e extensively refurbished. Carry on forward through the open door and turn immediately left for lift or stair access to other floors. This is when I began to have problems .Its poorly designed and resulted in difficulty to move my chair 90 degrees and fit through the doorway without breaking something ! Lift access is just as bad in that my chair would only just fit through the door and reversing back out was difficult to say the least . Signposting inside the building is poor and if you havent been before ask someone . Lucky for me there was a guard on hand to direct me .There are disabled toilets on site and I had no problems with them .Our meeting room was upstairs on the first floor . There are also two disabled WC on this floor .
