My mum was in pennington court for 3 weeks before she passed away. In that 3 weeks she had 3 falls and went down hill fast. Biggest mistake of my life putting my mum in what I can only call a sham of a place. I was assaulted by a member of staff who told me to take my mother home if I could do a better job ? I had looked after mum at home for 9 months before she went for rest bite. I have never regretted anything as much in my life.

My mother was a resident of Pennington Court for one month.Her care was unacceptable . Recommendations made by experienced palliative care services about her care were ignored. Admission notes when checked were incorrect. Documentation was very poor and contained many inaccuracies and incorrect statements. None of this was shared with next of kin so these problems were sadly only identified after her death. The care home were aware that next of kin held Lasting Power for health and well being as our mother was suffering from advanced dementia. This was ignored by the Care Home and relevant changes to her care were not shared with family. Changes to medication were only discovered after her death . End of life care was poor. She died alone .A subsequent investigation into her care was unsatisfactory and there were clear avoidance tactics to some of our concerns. We referred our concerns to Leeds City Council and a Safeguarding Investigation took place resulting in a number of recommendations for improvement. Similar recommendations including safety issues such as trailing wires were also noted in the recent CQC report which downgrades PC to Requires Improvement There remain incorrect statements in the brochure for this establishment stating that it holds a Gold Standard Award for end of life care. I am told this is incorrect.

My late mothers last weeks of life were, unfortunately, spent here Despite being her carer, next of kin and holder of Lasting Power of Attorney for Health and Welfare, no one asked me anything about her capabilities, her needs or just general background knowledge in order to get to know mum. She had several falls while here but my query about supplying a personal alarm was not taken seriously. When we asked to see her records after her death, we were required to obtain Letters of Administration although we later discovered that my mother had given her permission for staff to share records with family. We received 6 pages of records, we later found there were at least 35. The records were incorrect, inconsistent and, in at least one part, a complete work of fiction. No one feels like pursuing a complaint which drags out for nearly two years but my mother, who also had terminal cancer, did not receive the care I expected from an establishment that was rated outstanding although that rating was made under previous management.(now needs improvement). In pursuing the complaint we have been treated without empathy for our loss, still no explanation of what happened in the hour preceding mums death and no indication that our concerns were taken seriously.
