We have worked with Richard multiple times over the last few years for alterations to our residential property. His knowledge of the local planning regulations, creativity and experience with building projects of all kinds meant that interacting with him has always been a pleasure. We initially only asked him to help us navigate the necessary paperwork for the works but quickly realised that Arc8 brings more value to our projects in other aspects too. To put it simply, we also started engaging Richard on other matters that don't require planning because we found that his suggestions and insights into practicalities of how what we had in mind would work in the end got the best out of our ideas and stopped us from doing things we would regret for years to come. Highly recommend him!

We used Richard and Arc8 for a recent residential project and the results have been fantastic. Not only were the plans put through without any issues from the council but the execution by our builders was made easy by faultless and comprehensive plans. What Richard was great at was enabling us to maximise every little element of space with great results. Richard is creative and very good at what he does and we would never use anyone else.

I have used Arc8 for my last two residential projects and for consultancy on other projects. Each project required expert advice and have been delivered brilliantly and on time. I thoroughly recommend Arc8 as a proactive company that get results.

Richard Hall of Arc 8 Projects has helped us achieve our ideas on 2 properties in the last few years and I would highly recommend him to friends and family. His diligence and easy manner helps you get your own ideas across at the first meeting and the process from initial design through to planning was efficient and well communicated.

Rik Hall was recommended to us by friends when we were looking to do a large loft conversion in St Albans. He came out to do an initial visit and roughly sketched out his vision there and then (much to the amazement of my little girls!). My wife and I both felt his passion for architecture was clear from the way he talked about our job. We had spoken to local builders and 'loft conversion specialists' and encountered a real issue in getting the stairs up to the loft. We really didn't want to lose a bathroom but that was the only way the 'loft conversion specialists' we had spoken to said we could do it. They also said we didn't need an architect as they would do all the plans etc. Thankfully we didn't listen and went with Rik who came up with an ingenious way of pinching a couple of feet off our spare bedroom (which it can easily afford and still be a decent double room), making a new doorway through a stud wall on the landing where the stairs go up. That's the real value in employing an architect. The other bonus was his input into the way the builders do the ceilings around our landing - he has given us ideas as to how we really open the space up to a light in the roof by having the ceiling follow the sloping roofline so the whole first/second floor landing will feel more roomy and light. Again, a builder would have just done a straight wall and flat ceiling whereas Rik was constantly looking of ways to add features and make our conversion special. He kept to his fee estimate, allowed for some tinkering to the plans and delivered on time so no issues there. I think our job also set a new record in terms of getting approval from the planners - 4 weeks and 2 days from submission! It was permitted development so not full planning but still about a month less than St Albans Council quoted which is great. We are delighted and just wish we had used him when we did our rear extension a couple of years ago.
