All Saints church at Lawshall is a Grade 1 listed building comprising a C15 flint with stone dressing fabric comprising a tall west tower, nave, aisles and a C19 chancel. The font is of C14 origin with painted panels and the original cover is displayed above the first floor of the tower. Adjacent is a magnificent C16 carved chest. Apparently the church was almost completely rebuilt in the C15 with money from the wool trade having side aisles to the nave clerestory. The roof timber supports are beautifully painted as are the rails above the arches. This is a distinguished building reflecting the cloth industry profitability. The tower houses 5 bells dating from 1755 and has 4 stages supported by diagonal buttresses. The chancel was demolished and rebuilt in the mid C19. On the south side, near the font, is a memorial tile plaque to a Dutch airman, Flight Sergeant Johannes Bartholomeus Jat Van Mesdag, whose plane crashed at Bury Road. Well worth a visit and the church is open daily for viewing and private prayers
