Lavenham Upholstery

I am 14 years old & I wish to become an upholsterer so my Mum organised a footstool workshop with Mary at Lavenham Upholstery. I had a brilliant day with Mary, she taught me all about the tools I would be using, the materials I'd be using and techniques to create a footstool. Mary was very patient & a good teacher with lots of knowledge, it was a day of hard work & it requires lots of listening but I had a fantastic day & have an amazing footstool to show. Learnt so much from Mary. The jargon now makes sense and I now understand the processes too. Mary is a natural tutor and made learning a new skill great fun for me. The workshops were hard work, but worth every aching muscle. Already looking at material for my next project.

Mary is the most amazing teacher. I have always struggled with learning new things but Mary had a great way of teaching and making the course really enjoyable. I am nearly finished with my project but will be sad to leave the work shop! Now with my new love of upholstery, encouraged by Mary, I hope to come back with plenty more furniture in need of some tlc!

I couldnt have asked for a more welcoming place to learn upholstery with Mary. With lots of guidance & encouragement I have achieved this. Mary has a sharp eye for detail which has given me a great respect for the amount of skill required to get this finish. She has a brilliant sense of humour , excellent teacher & very patient. I would highly recommended anybody to go with zero experience like me. Its very exciting to make your own buttons & I even learnt how to put a zip in a cushion. I have made some new friends too & of course Roughton Marys dog. It has excelled all expectations.
