Dental work always very expensive these days but all the dental team at Bupa work hard to give you a painless experience, been using them for many years and am happy with the care and attention they provide..

I visited the Bupa Dental care at Madford Lane in Launceston for my routine dental Examination yesterday. The first thing I noticed as soon as I entered the building was the receptionist chatting to her friend at the desk about holidays, she just ignored me! I waited what seemed like 5 minutes before she even acknowledged me in the end. (There was no one else there apart from her friend and myself) She then said my name as if she was expecting me and asked me then to take a seat in the empty waiting area which I did. When I was finally called upstairs to the dental practitioner I put my gloves and mobile phone on the side and was abruptly told by the nurse to take them off the side and put them in a plastic box on the floor which I did. I thought that was quite rude as a paying customer! Then the routine examination.. I wanted to discuss some issues that I had regarding my teeth. But sadly the dentist practitioner examining me didn't seem that interested at all and I felt that I was been ignored to a certain degree and that did make me feel a little uncomfortable to say the least.. All the dental practitioner seemed interested in doing was to up sell some x-rays and a future hygienist appointment.. The examination didn't take long at all and was very different to all other examinations I have received in the past with other dentist. (The dental practitioner normally calls out each tooth in turn to the nurse as they go through them and she marks them off on the computer with the dentist practitioners remarks) Not this dentist practitioner! The dental examination was not reassuring to me at all, I didn't feel it was done appropriately or professionally, I have had plenty of experiences of dental routine examinations in the past so have a good idea how they should be done! The service in my opinion was not up to a very good standard at all for a private dental practice. The cost for my very sort examination and the two quick x-rays (which revealed nothing wrong I was told) was 97.00. Eye watering! I came away with no real answers about my concerns regarding the possible problems I have with my teeth, he offered no solutions or real answers to the majority of questions that I asked The dental practitioner also wanted me to book in an hygienist at a extra cost of another 97.00. (But did say it wasn't urgent?) Up sell again I feel? I didn't book in a hygienist appointment because I felt ripped off all ready with a poor examination at a high cost! Sadly it seems like it's all about taking as much money as they can off you for as little treatment as possible at Bupa Dental Care Madford Lane Launceston. When I paid the eye watering 97.00 for the quick examination and two x-rays I was then asked to sign a form saying I was totally satisfied with the dental service and the advice I had been given today from the dentist. This was a complete joke! I refused to sign it because I was not satisfied at all and really felt ripped off all ready! As I paid the eye watering bill I asked to change my dental practitioner to another one because they wanted to make an appointment in a years time for another routine examination. If the standard of service does not improve within Bupa Dental Care Madford Lane Launceston with a different dental practitioner at this practice I feel its just not worth my time or money to attend any longer and will be looking elsewhere in the future for a better private dentist. Very poor service received today at Bupa Dental Care, Madford Lane, Launceston at an extortionate cost! Very disappointing and I feel ripped off! I walked away from there today 97 lighter and nothing to show for it and still have the same issues with my teeth! Visited January 2023
