Abi Doughty - Lancaster Maths Tutor

I contacted Abi because my daughter has dyslexia and so was finding some of the Maths difficult to understand. We were concerned that she would not get the necessary grades to pass her GCSE. Abi helped by tailoring the sessions to fit my daughter's needs and helped her to understand the topics that she was struggling with at school. She looked forward to the sessions and felt more confident as the weeks went by. Abi really supported her and I would highly recommend her as a tutor - in the same way that she was recommended to us. Our daughter felt less stress as the exams approached because Abi helped her in a way that particularly suited her.

Over the first lock-down my daughter was struggling a bit with her A level maths work, particularly the statistics part. I asked a friend of mine if she could recommend a maths tutor and she recommended Abi. I had a chat with Abi on the phone and I told her a bit about my daughter and what she needed, and then they arranged weekly sessions on Zoom. At first my daughter was a bit wary, but her and Abi soon developed a really good working relationship, where my daughter would send her what she wanted to cover the week before and then they would work through the topics. Abi was very flexible and responsive, going through the topics my daughter needed to work on and explaining every really well. My daughter really enjoyed her sessions and always sounded like she was having a good time, and feels that the tuition has made a huge difference to her confidence and how she felt about her A level tests and gave her a greater confidence in her abilities.

Abi was recommended by a family friend as I wanted to get help for my two sons with their maths learning. They both enjoyed the sessions and I saw a big improvement in their motivation, confidence and understanding of the subject. Im sure Abis lessons will help them get the grades they need for college and university but more importantly Abi helped them see maths positively!

Abi is extremely personable and has helped my daughter a lot. She is reliable and definitely knows her stuff! My daughter is in one of the top tiers of maths sets in her year group thanks to Abi supporting her. We are so pleased with Abi that we would like her long-term. She answers any queries promptly and is a fantastic sounding board for mathematical methods. Thank you so much Abi.
