I know London is expensive and I probably put it in the wrong place, but that's okay. Through booking I had free cancellation up to 5 days before arrival but three days before departure I was hospitalized because they diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis. So I had to cancel the trip. I promptly contacted both booking and the hotel to ask if they could not charge me the penalty (more than 200 euros) given the unexpected emergency. The hotel told me to speak directly with booking, booking told me that the hotel was not answering them. Today, the first day I was supposed to be in London, the hotel writes me that they are rejecting my request for cancellation without penalty. I was really disappointed that a 4 star hotel in central London, with extortionate prices, doesn't make a small exception for such a serious reason. An impressive lack of humanity and seriousness. Even Ryanair and all the museums immediately refunded me as a kind gesture towards me. If they had granted me the cancellation without penalty I would have definitely rebooked there for when I can rearrange my trip to London, but in this case I refuse.     One of the better quality hotels around this area. Good location near Central Line and Paddington station. For some reason the bathroom was heat was set to sauna temperature and couldn't be adjusted. In the room there was an interesting "traffic light" switch for turning the light outside the door to either "clean the room please" or "do not disturb". At least one day the room was cleaned though when the DND light was on. Breakfast was OK, cost ~15 per person and you had to pay separately every day as our booking hadn't had breakfast included. All in all a nice stay for a few days on business. One disappointment was the food from the a la carte menu in the evening.
