A very serene setting near the top of the pass. A paid carpark allows access else a longer walk is involved. Roads are narrow and require care.

Beautiful tarn with a dramatic mountain backdrop, atmospheric in overcast conditions. A good path leads from the parking area around the tarn, heading up beyond the north shore and returning on the road. Very peaceful location, with only a few fellow walkers around even in peak summer season. The walk took around 40 minutes. If you've got a few more hours I'd recommend heading back around the south end of the tarn and then taking the left fork where the path splits, this route leads down into Little Langdale, beautiful surroundings, with the very impressive Cathedral Cave and historic Slaters Bridge to see on the way around. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly walks around the tarn and the surrounding Langdales.

Blea tarn is situated inbetween the Great Langdale valley & Little Langdale & is the perfect place to stop for a bit bait while doin' a circular walk from Skelwith bridge (the gateway of the Langdales).. just find a quiet spot to sit & relax for a while and enjoy the surrounding views of the Fells
