Jonathan's calm and reassuring approach to developing my son's written English, reading comprehension and verbal reasoning skills gave him real confidence ahead of the exams. Jonathan strikes a wonderful balance between praise for producing good work and critique on areas for development. Furthermore, he was always keen to speak to me to keep me updated on progress to ensure that I could support my son between his lessons. Our daughters recent IGCSE results (A* in English literature and A in English) are a testament to Jonathans expertise, positive and structured learning environment, commitment, and patience as a professional tutor. He has all these qualities in abundance. He is very knowledgeable about the subject,and always stays up to date with the latest theories and methods. The past two years have been particularly difficult, and Jonathan has played a stable and supportive part in our daughters educational journey, always finding ways to motivate her. I would highly recommend Jonathan as a GCSE English tutor, he has provided online tutor sessions for my daughter throughout her year 11. His lessons are well planned and engaging, he is knowledgeable of his subject and provides structured feedback to both the student and the parent. He tailored his lessons to her learning ability and taught her exam techniques to enable her to plan and structure her answers in a concise way. I found him to be extremely professional, his online lessons were delivered in a way that kept my daughter interested and motivated and as a result she has grown in confidence and shown an overall improvement in her performance.

Jonathan has tutored both my sons, he really gets to know the individual needs of each student, providing both text and exercises to suit and prompt discussion. Both gained a huge amount of insight, confidence, and skill, which have been crucial with not just English but all subjects that require considered thought and response. My eldest got a grade 6 and my youngest is in Y8 and having online tutoring, which has been essential. Being able to sit in on a couple of sessions was especially useful and even if you have the most reluctant student, Jonathans will be able to help.

I can highly recommend Jon as an English tutor. He is highly professional and knowledgeable of the syllabus. Jon taught our son the skills and techniques needed to improve his written work for his English Language GCSE. With Jon's excellent tutoring, our son achieved 2 grades higher than he was predicted which he was extremely pleased with. An excellent tutor.
