Ive been going to Hershesons for many years (the cut in my profile photo is a Hershesons cut) and until last December Id always been happy. I dont trust many hairdressers with my hair and had trusted Hershesons completely. But in December 2022 one of their hairdressers completely ruined my hair by hacking at it with thinning shears and a razor. I asked them halfway through if it was a good idea but they smiled and told me it would look much thicker. It didnt. My hair was wrecked. What is worse is that, after years of suffering thinning and shredding, Id found a trichologist who helped me get that under control and my hair was in the best condition it had been in a long time. I was distraught and contacted Hershesons who invited me back in (at my own expense as I live out of London). I went and was told there was nothing they could do except wait for it to grow. I couldve told them that without spending 60 on train fare. They offered me two free haircuts once it had grown with the stylist advising that he would take minimal amounts off the length each time. I recently went back for the first of them having let my hair grow for 4 months. Id had quite a bit of shedding due to stress and told them that while my head understood that I might need the length taking up, my heart wanted to try to grow it. The same stylist told me it needed a lot taking off - indicating to my shoulders. I was gutted as Id worked so hard to grow it and hed originally said I wouldnt need to lose too much length. In the end he took even more than that off and I now have a short bob that I hate. I dont trust them to go back to claim the other free haircut. While every person Ive dealt with has been polite I dont feel at all that they cared about my situation or making me feel good about my hair again. Hershesons charge a lot of money and they have had a lot of success in recent years but my personal experience is that they have lost all care and frankly respect for their customers preferring the PR of being fashion hairdressers to genuinely caring about the customers whove trusted them for years.
