Howscales Cottages

We had a lovely stay, right from our arrival when we were greeted by Liz and by her delicious "Herdy" shortbread! The cottage feels spacious, comfortable and everything inside is finished to a very high standard. There is a small but lovely fenced garden to the back which is great for letting our dog out without having to worry about her escaping as well as for eating breakfast on the comfortable garden furniture in the morning sun! Beyond the garden is a large, enclosed area for all guests to exercise their dogs off the lead - even those of us who have little escape artists! We've cooked and eaten in most evenings and have found the kitchen to be really well equipped. Love the "Herdy" theme!! Bed is a good size and very comfortable and there's plenty of room in the wardrobe and chest of drawers for unpacking clothes. Shower is great as well! On top of all that, the cottage is situated in a very beautiful area and the owners, Liz and Adrian, are very friendly and helpful. Murphy and Rosie are very friendly too! We have also enjoyed following some of the walks that were provided us in the welcome pack emailed before our arrival. Such a thoughtful thing to provide and it's been great to explore the local area without having to drive too far (some of the walks are from the door). The local village of Kirkoswald is lovely. The community shop is really well stocked for such a small shop and those serving in the shop are really friendly. All in all, we would highly recommend Howscales and we hope to be back soon!

Our stay at Inglewood was lovely. Liz & Adrian were the perfect hosts & the cottage wanted for nothing with a fully equipped kitchen, comfy seating and beautiful en-suite bedrooms. The private garden & Howscales grounds were ideal for our dogs. The situation of Howscales brings the Yorkshire Dales & The Lakes within easy reach & we hope to make a return visit!

Howscales is set in a beautiful rural countryside. Ravendale cottage was really great , very clean, spacious and everthing you could need with some very nice touches, a welcoming cake and all you need to make a cup of tea on arrival. Towels, bowls and treats for all our 3 dogs, who really enjoyed themselves running around the enclosed field. We would highly reccomend Howscales and hope to return soon.
