Spent a pleasant 7 night stay at Bank End Lodge. Spacious bedrooms, comfy beds, great view across the valley, nice local walks and a good location for getting into the Lakes or exploring the Barrow peninsula to the south. Kitchen well equipped and lounge area a decent size. Outside space lovely for family use and the hot tub is good. However I can only give 3 stars for a few reasons: - NOISE - The main road is right next to the house and it is noisy from 6am with the sound of approaching vehicles lasting for half a minute if they come from the west. If it's hot (as it was on our stay) then you have to have the windows open at night so you hear every car/lorry/motorbike/emergency service unit going by at 60mph - The dog kennels are within ear shot and again the dogs there start the dawn chorus in the wee small hours - Floor in places and the majority of staircases are very squeaky! - The layout of the 2 adjoining properties means that you can hear much of what is going on with the neighbours. -SPACE - for a home that can sleep 10 this would be a very cramped space. There were 3 children in our party and even with smaller people it was quite a squeeze to get round people at times. PARKING - the Lodge parking (not the Barn) is down a steep slope and tricky to get in and out of. Obviously this is only my experience but I think some aspects of the property were not made clear enough before booking so I thought it only fair to post this before others book an expensive holiday and feel a little dissapointed.

We had a wonderful weeks stay in June. The lodge is in a beautiful setting, very well equipped and laid out. Hot tub and meals in the garden whilst enjoying the amazing views made it extra special. Local Pub (Greyhound) was very welcoming and the food was very good. Lovely area to explore (a number of local walks from the lodge) and a good base for the lakes. Proprietors very kind and helpful. Would love to return. Highly recommended.
