Grantley Design Jaguar

My car looks as stunning as the photographs. I couldnt be more delighted. This is the first car modification project Ive experienced. Dave Kennedy (the owner of Grantley Design Jaguar and principal technician) was excellent at listening to my multiple questions and requests. Id soon increased the package of work beyond the standard Grantley conversion which involved Dave in a great deal of additional work. Not least in searching out additional parts. Daves skills include manufacturing and installing replacement fibreglass moulded panels and new front lights. The most challenging aspect of the project was the paint selection. Id been captivated by House of Kolor videos ( Kandy Apple Red). Dave explained that although he had painted a huge number of vehicles in his career, hed never used HoK paint. This paint requires a vehicle to be painted completely in a single session. Its not possible to paint panel-by-panel or to touch-up any shortfalls. Jointly, we decided to go for it. Whilst the paint bill rose, I think Dave will not have been reimbursed for all the time he spent. I absolutely adore the final finish. Despite the complexity of the paint, it is 99.9% perfect. I dont know if Dave would offer to use this paint again - something for future customers to discuss with him! Inevitably, with a transformation project of this size, there were little glitches that required attention when I collected the vehicle. All dealt with successfully by Dave with only one small engine sensor issue requiring attention from my local garage. The paint and additional parts required meant the project took longer than the usual 6 weeks or so. About twice as long. However, I was in no rush and was grateful Dave was prepared to put the additional time in. Id become bored with the black colour of my 2007 Jaguar XK (which Id owned for 10 years) but couldnt find an affordable alternative. Late model XKs in red were pricey. Im very happy now to own only the 9th XK Grantley conversion in existence and the only one in this colour. Tempted? Have a chat with Dave!

I've just collected my XKR from David Kennedy at Grantley Design and I have to say I am 100% pleased and absolutely Knocked out with the result. David is extremely easy to deal with and has a very laid back approach which belies his talent as a total perfectionist. At the outset after we agreed what it was that I required, he explained in great detail how he would go about tackling the job and during the process kept me informed on a very regular basis by email and photos as to how it was going. As I mentioned earlier I am totally satisfied with my new look XKR and would recommend that if you were thinking along the same lines as regards modifying yours I would certainly give him a call.
