Unfortunately the kitchen was out of action and we were diverted to The Crab and Boar Food & drinks: The food at the Crab and Boar was substandard for a pub lunch, but I think they were understaffed. We would not go back and would be wary about using this chain again

Travelled 20 minutes to be told on arrival - by a bloke that didnt really seem to care that much - that due to unforeseen circumstances the kitchen was shut and that the only option for us was their sister pub 8 miles down the road whose kitchen was shutting in 45 mins time. He also didnt know if they have available tables. No idea why they couldnt have rung well in advance of our table at 1.45pm when the kitchen opening times are from midday - 2.30pm. Useless.

Great location by the canal. Main course was very tasty but my wife had vanilla cheesecake for pudding and it was definitely not good value for money. 8 for a small slice of fairly bland cheesecake with no garnish apart from a dusting of icing sugar. Service was quite slow, took them 20 mins to give us menus, a problem with their printers but they could at least have asked us if we wanted drinks while waiting. It felt like we had to ask for everything rather than them being proactive. That said, the young waiter who we mostly had was very polite and did try to be helpful. We were trying the restaurant out as we have quite a few visitors coming over Summer and wanted to identify great places to take them. Sadly, the Dundas Arms won't be on our go to list. Disappointing as we had high hopes before we went.
