Myself and my family couldn't thank everyone at Heavenly Services enough for everything they did for us through out such an awful and sad time. Especially with someone passing during the recent pandemic. They went above and beyond for us and catered to us as best they could at such a time. I first spoke to Sophie who became my "go to" person for any questions I had or any additional arrangements. Sophie was very professional but also very friendly and made me laugh at times I needed it. Not everything needs to be all doom and gloom and I found that their approach to everything was a breath of fresh air and made us feel at ease. My mum and sister had the initial appointment at the Holderness Road branch with a lovely lady called Tracey whom they told me was very welcoming, informative and friendly. Our celebrant was Nikki- we requested her as she just happened to answer the phone when I had an urgent issue one evening and she managed to sort everything out for us pretty sharpish and told me not to worry. Thankfully she accepted to be our celebrant eventhough she was based in the Hull area mainly and my dad's funeral was being held in West Yorkshire at a crematorium she had never been to before. We went for our appointment with her at the Hessle Road branch to talk through the service and what stories/music we wished to be included. There were a few tears but mostly laughter as we reminisced about my dad. Nikki made us laugh and this made us feel very much at ease. It may sound cliche but it felt as though we were all just chatting with an old friend about my dad. We arranged to go and see my dad at their new building in Wibsey- Bradford On the day we went to see him we were welcomed by a lovely lady called Janice who again, was incredibly welcoming and just delightful to talk to. We could see that the building was still having slight adjustments to it but this didn't bother us, we were just glad that they could accommodate us so soon eventhough they weren't technically due to open as yet. The room that my dad was in felt really relaxing and peaceful. We were worried about seeing him as I had seen other family members before at the chapel of rest and they looked nothing like themselves. My dad just looked like he was sleeping. It was a lovely memory to leave him on. He wasn't in a coffin thankfully. He was on a raised bed with a duvet cover and a pillow. Just as if he was sleeping. They had done such a good job and we were very pleased. We spoke to Janice after seeing my dad and were talking about my niece only being 3 and my nephew being disabled and not really understanding what had happened to my dad. She very kindly lent us some kids books that talked about death which helped them to understand more so. We very much appreciated this sentiment. Due to Covid-19, we weren't allowed to have extra cars and the service was restricted to 10 people. Our celebrant Nikki and her colleague Simon were excellent on the day of the funeral. We arranged to walk up our road behind the hearse to outside my mum's house. Simon lead the hearse. It was very dignified and we felt overwhelmed by the efforts they had gone to to try and accommodate everything we wanted what with the current restrictions/circumstances. The service was absolutely lovely and made us laugh and cry. Nikki did an amazing job and even added a little dance in there that my mum had showed her. It was perfect and so "my dad." The crematorium (nothing to do with heavenly services) weren't brilliant but Nikki managed to get us as much leeway as possible with the circumstances. Simon filmed the service for us so that other members of the family who couldn't attend could see it if they wished. I cannot recommend heavenly services highly enough. My mum (morbid as it may sound) has already said she wants us to use them for her funeral when she dies. We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for helping us as a family and giving my dad the send off he deserved.
