We booked to stay over the new year period to visit family close by. Mariners house is listed to accommodate 7 people and there was 6 of us. The instructions that came on the e-mail via Airbnb informed us that we would be met at the property by the host. Check in time between 1600 and midnight. We arrived at the property at 1545, so waited outside until 1600. At 1605 we called the host, but there was no answer, we then got a text saying, "we can't talk right now." We advised the host, via text that we were waiting to check in. We then recieved a text with the code to a key safe. On entering the property, the house seemed well presented and clean. However we did have a small issue with the fact the kitchen bin hadn't been emptied and the sofa beds had not been made up (we had booked for 7 people). Additionally the carpet in one of the upstairs bedrooms was rather stained. Quite off putting. Once in, the house was cold so we went to turn the heating on, we turned the thermostat up, as per the instructions on the welcome pack. No heating or hot water. When we checked the boiler it informed us that we had an error code, saying to bleed the radiators and low water pressure. We contacted the host again and eventually we did get a call back about 20 mins later, she told us she would call her handyman to call round to resolve this. About 10 mins later he had been and fixed the problem. (The host had been difficult to contact as they were in the theatre when we contacted them. They were extremely apologetic and did resolve the heating system as soon as possible!) Other than these minor problems, the beds were comfy and clean. The house itself is very spacious and can easily accommodate a large family. We personally didn't use it (due to it being december) but there is a large garden with a lovely terrace which would be perfect in the summer. There is also ample parking for 2 cars on the drive. All in all, for the price, location and the fact they allow pets (we had two dogs - 1 large, 1 small) we would definitely stay again.
