Possibly the strangest place Ive ever stayed. Someone elses clothes in my wardrobe, unclean, middle of nowhere. The single room smelt so bad and was expensive for what it is. Had someone elses toothbrush and half used shower gel in the bathroom. The drawers and wardrobe were full of the owners clothes. Felt massively uncomfortable. Milk in pots was off; tea and coffee out of date; kettle on the floor; stains on the cushions.

This is a family owned B&B near Kimpton. Not the easiest house to find on an un-named road at Porters End (where the road sign points the wrong way. Wasn't sure I was at the right house when I got there! Needs larger, road side signage. Parking spaces right by entrance. This was very cheap accommodation, I paid 59 for single room B&B booked the same day. There was a warm welcome but no check-in or in-room welcome pack. Fresh milk offered for coffee, but the bedside table barely had room for the large lamp, so the kettle had to go on the floor. The instant coffee was in a small jar and had almost set solid. Yet, the bed was comfy, the room was quiet and clean with a small TV in good position. Lots of draws and wardrobe space and a mirror. Bathroom, next door again had everything you'd expect, except no towels?! Breakfast was a real treat and better than I expected at the price. Again friendly and personal service. Ignore the minor niggles. I'd be happy to visit West Lodge again. Lovely walks in unspoilt countryside right from the Lodge.
