We have been to Groom's Cottage several times and it never disappoints. Ann and Mark are the most wonderful hosts and go above and beyond to make sure that every need is catered for - from little details in the cottage to helping with planning walking/cycling/horse-riding routes on the Quantocks. A bonus is the opportunity to bring your equine friend, with lovely turn out and beautiful stables. The riding on the hills is superb, with terrain ranging from pretty combes to open moorland and hilly wooded areas. The cottage is also dog-friendly. Tips for other travellers The Hood Arms, at the end of the lane, is well known for its food. Slightly further away is the pretty harbour town of Watchet with a station on the West Somerset Railway - listen out for the whistle of steam trains when sitting in the cottage garden! Minehead is a quintessential seaside town if you crave such attractions, but really there is no need to venture far beyond the cottage and the hills for a real get-away break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you're lucky you'll see deer and lots of lovely birds without leaving the confines of the cottage garden!
