We have been seeking a church. Attended two services at S. Andrew's. The services were fine. However, as new comers we felt very much out of it. Although there was a general 'welcome' and invitation to stay for coffee, no-one spoke to us. The vicar stood a few feet from us but 'didn't see us' One would have thought someone would be keen to get new members into the church, especially as there is a significant shortfall in finances. We were potential givers, probably giving several hundred per month, so, even from a mercenary point of view, one would have thought welcoming new comers would be on the list of priorities. Not everyone is pushy and one shouldn't need to be pushy to get recognised, especially in a church. Still, this scenario is pretty common in the C of E in our experience so our search continues. I'm sorry to have to post a negative review because we could see that there's a lot that's good in this church, but often church congregations become inward looking and comfortable in the way things are . I suppose complacent would be the word to sum it up.
