Mixed review, please read - Good location with easy access to Castlehead, Derwentwater and Keswick. Good communication when responding to queries etc and ample parking space. Clean throughout on arrival. Areas where improvement would be beneficial include; more than two thirds of light bulbs not working downstairs, fire extinguisher past its expiry date, first aid kit contents expired in 2005 (!), boiler so noisy it wakes you up at 7 when it comes on but you're not allowed to change the settings. It is also obtrusive to relaxing in the open plan downstairs area. The house sleeps 6 but only seats 5 on the soft furnishings (which were rather tired), fire blanket was hidden behind the bread bin, no handle could be found for the grille pan, spare inoperative fitted fridge freezer taking up a lot of space and I had to clear the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher as it was blocked with purple residue. It's an ok house but for the peak season cost that is charged it really needs some love and care to give a worthy level of value for money. There are no smoke alarms installed, although there is a CO detector, outside the compartmented boiler cupboard which also houses the tumble drier and ironing board etc. Bedrooms would benefit from power sockets within reach of mirrors for hair driers etc, of a small mirror being provided. I'm quite a generous person, hence three stars. Many people would have been on the phone to the owner. I was waiting for her to pop over as promised in her last email, but she never materialised unfortunately, but that may have been due to circumstances beyond her control of course. With some effort this place could be fantastic, it's a shame it's been unloved for a while. The previous review on here was written by the owner hence it's glowing yet limited detail.
