Always love this place. Fascinating window on history. Didn't know until today that both Capability Brown and Robert Adams both started their respected carears here at Croome. The walled garden is extra to the entree fee. A walk through to the Church of St Mary Magdalene brings you out to a stunning panorama of the house and parkland turning left after the church takes you through to the ice house and a lovely walk through ancient trees in a gentle slope past the walled garden and round house . Down to the Front of the main house. Over the Chinese bridge and right along the man made river to the lakes islands and bridges. All Capability Brown design. Up through the garden walk back to the church of St Mary Magdalene. A really lovely walk in all seasons. Different views at every turn and a stunning view of the House from the orangery. The house shows off Adam's work and a 15 minute film brings it all together.

I love this National Trust place. Visited on Tuesday with my son,it was a lovely day, so much better than the last time I went when the wind virtually blew through you!! We had a walk round the lake and then back for lunch. We had a jacket potato with different toppings, very generous with the tuna mayo!! We then walked round the back of the house, unfortunately the walled garden is only open at weekends. It costs 5 to go in,no concession for NT members so not sure I'll bother. We then had the compulsory scone with cream and jam. I could only manage half of mine so took the remainder for my daughter in law to enjoy!! The scones are still a decent size but I think the slices of cake have become children's portions. I don't live close to this site or would visit more often. It's such a vast park to walk around, it never feels busy. Didn't bother with the house as I didn't find it too interesting last time and didn't need to escape inclement weather!!
