We were very fortunate indeed in finding and engaging Gerry to project manage our extension and refurb building project after things had quickly gone badly wrong under the contract builder .This was no easy task ,as Gerry came on board last November ,when we faced last winter with out a roof , no heating and our home left almost inhabitable and with us at the mercy of the builder demanding payment. Due to Gerrys attention , and firm but fair management , the same builder continued to completion under a fair payment schedule originated and administered by Gerry which suited both parties . This considerably reduced the stress involved on our part. Furthermore ,In the first 2 weeks of Gerrys involvement, due to his diligence,he was able to counter the builder over some of the costings and as a result his total fee for managing the project was saved .Now almost a year on and we have a beautiful home and will be eternally grateful that we came to Gerry , whose support and involvement rescued our build . We would thoroughly recommend his services to others.

Is it morally right to inflict damage and demand payment for a job badly done that necessitates redoing by another surveyor? Dolden Associates were instructed to identify building defects and the cost of remedying the same at my familys home after some cowboy builders left without finishing. The senior surveyor made me sign a contract, which turned out to be the wrong one, arrived with two hours delay, inspected the property for about 15 minutes and missed the majority of defects. The survey produced and submitted with much delay, was very superficial, contained no costing and relied mostly on a list produced by Building Control that GDA just copied in. There was a window positioned on the wrong side of the building that they completely missed plus many other expensive defects. I explained why the survey was completely useless to me and tried to sort things out but they could not care less and insisted on being paid anyway. I raised a complaint under Consumer Rights Law but this was ignored and because of it I could not escalate it to an independent adjudicator as recommended by RICS, the surveyors regulatory body. Instead G. Dolden issued court proceedings without even a letter before action as required by the Civil Procedure Rules. I trusted the Justice system to be fair and had to represent myself. Unfortunately I didnt know that some solicitors work as part time judges and may not care much about delivering justice. The solicitor/judge didnt ask me any questions, was very arrogant and seemed to have made up his mind before the hearing even started. He just went along with wathever GDA said without questioning and even behaved like his solicitor making points in his favour. In short it was a farce. Not even G.Dolden Associates clearly saying that RICS were investigating two complaints against them raised any doubts in the judge s mind. In the end I had to pay a considerable sum for a useless survey and instruct another surveyor to do the work that G. Dolden Associates didnt do but were paid for. G. Dolden & Associates have caused me a considerable amount of stress and financial loss, have prejudiced my ability to obtain redress from the cowboy builders who did defective work because that evidence has now been erased and have ruined my credit score. I am left with a loss of around 10,000 for trusting G.Dolden & Associates. All they seem to care about is making money and when mistakes are made refuse to take any responsibility. I am relieved to say that RICS, the surveyor's regulatory body, upheld my complaint against G. Dolden & Associates.

Extremely grateful for Mr Gerry Dolden and his brilliant team who accommodated our urgent request for a Valuation report on such a short notice (2 working days turnover of the report). Everyone in his team were very helpful and responded quickly to our request. Other than quality, I highly value transparency, prompt response and real people to talk to from a company. They gave me that and I am happy with the service I received.

I too received bad service from Dolden Associates. The surveyor who looked at the building in question did not seem competent at all and produced a report that failed to identify most problems even the obvious ones. Of course this caused me considerable grievance, disadvantage and financial loss which is exactly what a survey done by a competent surveyor should avoid.
