Just moved to another hospital after spending 6.5 months at Mill Lodge. I must admit that I wasn't always the easiest patient to deal with but genuinely most of the staff do care, they're patient and approachable. Having good staff in the hospital made the admission easier, there was always someone to talk to and to ask for help. The MDT are lovely too, they actually listen to their patients, making ward rounds less daunting. Thank you to all the staff, particularly those on Jared Ward.

This hospital was not good at all for my mother who was taken into there. The staff werent helpful and their communication was awful with the family! They let my mother out on leave after two weeks of being in there, she was not ready for this and what ever doctor agreed that she was fit to leave needs to be sacked! I contacted them after her weekend leave, where during that time I had to call the police, I had to tell the hospital I had several calls off concerned people that had seen her saying she was mentally unstable doing things completely out of character for her. After this I emailed the manager of the hospital Martine shared my concerns and heard absolutely nothing back! Honestly the worst mental health hospital we have come across and my mother has now been discharged, she is the exact same as when she went In they havent helped her at all.

The mental health care from staff was the best Ive ever experienced in a non secure hospital. The physical health attention was appalling - I had urgent physical problems, and they were ignored until nearly too late. However, that aside, Ive never experienced such a kind, caring, empathic staff culture - it makes all the difference and is a healing balm by itself. Thank you all for the tolerance of my impatience and for not being cruel, but caring and approachable. This is how a psych hospital should be, though it is rare not to have at least one callous bad apple in the staffing mix. The thought of ever being re-admitted to any other psych hospital fills me with such fear, because most are horrible with some cruel staff. But not Mill Lodge. A highly commendable hospital. I know I was a difficult patient much of the time, and I want to thank you all for the patience and kindness.
