On the day, the installer turned up late, disappeared for three hours in the middle of the day, then took a lunch break, with the end result that he didn't leave until 10pm and had to return the following day to finish up due to bringing the wrong parts.
Another issue was that during the site visit, they didn't check that the new laminate was thicker than the old, despite the fact that the old laminate was loose and samples were available to hand to measure. The result of that was that three of the doors had to be removed and cut down at an extra cost something that, had the survey picked up on this, I would have organised well in advance. The doors now stick as this was not done properly.
The finished job was good and attractive, aside from some rough edges where binding strips were not properly cut, leaving gaps.
Overall, I'm happy with the end result. But the communication side of things really needs sorting out I had to correct the dates several times, despite confirming them via phone, email, and text message. A site survey should take things like the height of the flooring into consideration. I admit that it never occurred to me that it would be an issue, but I'm not the professional here: aspects such as this should be basic considerations.
Finally, there was no explanation or excuse for late arrivals on both days and the installer vanishing for half of the job. If there were reasons, they were not communicated.
I hate to leave a niggling review. It's important to support local businesses but folks, all of these things are easily avoidable and easily fixed. Work on your communications, stick to your dates, and sort out the attendance / punctuality issues.
