Howdens - Great Cambridge Road

They are called design experts. Unfortunately that's all they are, and even then I reckon I could become an 'expert' with a bit of training on how to drag and drop items using a software application. They had to be babysat through three weeks and seven deliveries for one kitchen delivery in April because they have difficulty processing and retaining information. I think about 70% of the kitchen was delivered initially, and several phone calls a week to get the rest when the fitter kept discovering items that were missing as it was being assembled. The worrying thing was that they were completely oblivious to this and each time it came as a surprise, instead of having any common sense to go through the order and tick off what hadn't been delivered, given they have all the stock codes to hand. They all speak English as their first language in there so I can't put this down to a lack of communication, more a lack of awareness and competence. The manager in there doesn't seem to be on top of these things and leaves his staff exposed to make error after error instead of jumping in to actually manage to help them out when they were making mistakes. The staff were helpful and apologetic each time, but were reluctant to take any accountability for this primitive way of working and instead kept reeling off quotes from their terms and conditions. Quality kitchens, but shambolic and immature methods.
