Had them out today to fit my 5yo cob gelding who has previously been very uncomfortable in my old saddle. Had my first proper ride on him tonight after getting his new saddle fitted and he went like a dream! Thank you so much!

Fitted (a term I use loosely) my childs pony with a saddle that caused back problems whilst we were at a riding school. Not only was this a danger to my young child but also other young children using the pony for riding school lessons. A physio and vet have both confirmed that the saddle has caused serious back issues that it will take months to fully recover from. I have also had a master saddler out who confirmed that the saddle did not and never would have fitted my pony. I contacted them to give them a chance to rectify this issue and was happy to pay and they came out and charged 40 to plonk the saddle on the ponies back and gave every excuse in the book as to why it doesnt fit the pony not in enough work the pony has gained top line (dont know how if she isnt in enough work) the best one was that it is the responsibility of the riding school licensing vet to check that the saddles fit correctly! During the fitting they even went on to discuss sensitive information regarding another clients medical information and new location to me which constitutes not only as a breach of data protection but also disclosing sensitive client information. Following the 5 minutes of saddle fitting I was then charged a further 40 to take the saddle away to be reflocked and asked us to collect it from the shop the following day. I dont know how they knew if they had put the correct amount of flocking in without rechecking it. It may have been psychic powers. Anyhow as you have probably guessed the saddle did not fit after being reflocked. I didnt want to waste anymore time and money with this company already being 80 down and no closer to the saddle being sorted so I decided to cut my losses and go with a new saddle fitter who came out and templates the back of the pony and sourced me a very reasonably priced new saddle that fits like a glove. The new saddle fitter even watched the pony in work to make sure it was suited the needs of both the pony and the rider. A number of others at the yard have had the same issues with them around 8 I know of in the last few months. If you would like a saddle fitting correctly to your horse I suggest that you go to a qualified master saddler and not L for Leather. Its a shame as I have heard fabulous things about Keith but sadly never got a chance to deal with him directly.
