Appalling, lazy, not fit for purpose, patronising and impossible to communicate with - no one answers the phone, they talk down to their customers. Feels like it's being run as hobby or a school club.

It's amazing how government agencies & Councils can flout the laws about non-discrimination & employment of minorities that would have a private employer investigated & prosecuted. Ipswich Borough Council campaigns to achieve 'city' status but cannot even seem to provide basic facilities for its residents, such as adequate bottle banks or repaired pavements. I was living down a main street all of a mile & a half long, but literally not a SINGLE bottle bank from one end to the other. All the side streets seem to be impassable on the pavement outside usual working hours, because of pavement parking or lack of repairs, (even outside primary & nursery schools). Ipswich's uneven paving & broken kerbs are appalling & the worst I've encountered outside Eastern Europe! It's appropriate that they're flying the Ukrainian flag at their front door because I've been to that country 4 times & it's somewhere with pavements worse than Ipswich! I wonder how I've survived the town for over 3 years with only 2 falls flat on my face over dodgy kerbing or uneven paving . It's made all the worse because of the policy to turn off all street lighting for 7 hours every night. This might be an acceptable cutback in a village, but in an urban centre with so many industrial estates operating 24/7, it makes the plight of the shiftworker very precarious. (Not to mention the problem of drug- related street crime throughout Ipswich). Worse thing about it as how Ipswich Borough Council goes out of its way to squander Council TAXPAYERS money on moronic projects, (such as 'Digby the Octopus')! The official Council website is facilitated to complain about just about anything, but it is a waste of time as they do not accept responsibility for any issues, from those mentioned, to issues of housing & providing social services, (on which IBC has an appalling record...)

Ipswich Borough is a failing institution. Particularly when it comes to racism. Only 3.5 % of Ipswich population are black. Im not black but my neighbour is and been racially harassed for nearly a decade. No actions from Ipswich Borough against perpetrators who are our neighbours although it is their legal responsibility to deal with it. Another case was my ex who is mixed race. Her house was on fire. Ipswich Borough couldnt put new windows for half year. She asked for a fence 2 years ago for a safety reasons but Ipswich Borough never done it. Ipswich Borough is unconsciously racist institution and soon you will read more about this failing institution.

Terrible council, I am a private landlord and council instructing tenants to stay in flats until court notices and then bailiffs which is expensive. Council have cost me over 6500 through lost rent and court fees. A guy called Dyfdd instructing.

My upstairs neighbor had a leak, the water was coming through my ceiling. She wasn't at home and I tried to call the council as hers is a council flat, they didn't pick up the phone, kept saying the lines are all busy, which was frustrating as my kitchen was getting destroyed. Luckily some council workers had their breaks outside my buliding so I ran to them ask for help. They didn't mind not having their break and came to help without any complain, and tried to help in any way they could, they even came back later to check how everything was. Then I had to call the council, the lady I talked to was extremely helpful and kind, she even called me back as she promised, which doesn't ever happen anymore. All these people showed me compassion and kindness and helped me through this incredibly difficult day.I am very grateful to them, they are a true credit to Ipswich Borough Council.
