St. Stephen's Church

St. Stephen's is one of the 12 medieval churches in Ipswich town centre, built in traditional style with stone & red-brick. It's quite a small building with a short tower, so it doesn't stand out above the town centre skyline like its neighbours, St. Lawrence's, & St. Mary-le-Tower. Unfortunately, surrounding buildings have been built so close, the original boundary of the churchyard has been lost & is now only marked by the oldest remaining tombs & gravestones. Another feature detracting from the view of St. Stephen's, is its perimeter path having become part of the surrounding precinct, meaning that of all the town centre churches, it's got the least feeling of seclusion...

Helpful staff for tourists information on Ipswich, and mostly knowledgeable. A few interesting things to buy on Ipswich and Suffolk. Perhaps not always accurate, and would benefit from more range in goods. I believe that you can buy tickets for shows here too, which is nice.
