I was at this yard for 6 months on full livery. The good parts of this yard are all year turnout and the hacking, I chose this yard after checking everything met our needs, including care and feeding After a couple of months i realised my horse was loosing weight, but put this down to winter time, I had concerns about the fact the horses came in at lunchtime and didn't have any hay for quite a few hours and just stood, it hadnt been mentioned that they came in so early, on the days i was there i gave my horse extra hay from my own supply, it wasn't welcomed you having extra hay other than the amount supplied. Hard feed wise he was given half the amount a horse of his size should be and what was written on my form, i realised this when i saw the list of feeds each horse received. My horse continued to loose weight and i expressed my concerns several times, it was agreed his feed would be changed slightly although the amount didn't go up, he was then given more hay, but my hay and haylage, not the yards that i was paying for with full livery. The hay was of a seriously bad quality, im not sure if the supplier was changed as it didnt seem as bad at first, it was full of twigs and like a birds nest, i queried the hay and was told it was 'organic' and the horses loved it, mine didn't and i knew of others that didn't either. In the 6 months my horse was there he lost 36kg, not only fat but muscle as he no longer had any fat to lose, Other bad points were rugs not being changed leading to loss of mane, fencing not maintained leading to escapees and injuries 3 months after arriving i purchased another horse, a 3 year old, this horse also lost weight in total 16kg, so a growing young horse was losing weight when he was supposed to growing and maturing. He refused to eat the hay i discovered, where as my other did at least eat it as he was so hungry. I have attached photos so you can see the weight my horse lost, the 1st pic was taken early January (we had been there approx 6 weeks at this point) 2nd the day we left, the 3rd 2 weeks after we left. He is improving already just by having the correct amount of hay and feed, showing that he was being severly under fed. Iv noticed that the reviews part on fb for this yard is missing you can make of that what you will.
