A complaint will be emailed to Tangney Tours regarding the hotels used, specifically the Manger Hotel in Bethlehem and the awful Gloria Hotel in Jerusalem. The Bethlehem Hotel had no Internet, or at least none that reached our room, and the supposed individually controlled air-conditioning could only be adjusted to make the room hotter - it was already set to 30c which made the room stifling and uncomfortable. In addition, the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. But that place was like a 5 star hotel in comparison to the service received at the Gloria Hotel. There was no organisation whatsoever when we first arrived. When we finally got the key for our room, we were told there was no lift! Both my mum and I use walking sticks, and my mum suffers with emphysema so have to climb two flights of stairs at least four times a day caused extreme pain and discomfort. It certainly didn't help that the stairs were in a terrible condition- some of the stairs in the old sites we'd visited were in better condition than the hotel stairs. They were cracked, uneven, and for the last half of the stairway there was no bannister! That was bad enough, but in addition, we weren't in the main section of the hotel, instead we had to cross the road in the dark with liqour stores on either side were groups of men were gathered, all while dodging the cars that sped by, which was somewhat difficult because there were no pavements. Then clutching our handbags we had to quickly get out our card key in order to enter what was called the Annexe. The place stunk like a toilet as soon as you entered. The walls of the room were dirty and marked, you could almost picture it being a storage room. Considering they were in the middle of renovations it wouldn't surprise me if that had indeed been the case. The shower curtain rail was broken and had been painted over in a poor attempt to hold it together. Then on our last day we returned from Mass to find that the chambermaid had stolen our travelling cups that we'd left by the kettle for one final coffee before leaving for the airport. It took some time but she eventually admitted to taking the, and retrieved them from her handbag. I've been to the Holy Land a few times so I have a pretty good idea what to expect from the hotels. We usually travel with Special Pilgrimages but I paid 400 more for Tangney Tours thinking the rooms would be a little more upscale but instead they were worse that any of the previous hotels I've stayed at, which makes their request for an extra 100/150 per person towards the cost of these awful hotels downright cheeky! In conclusion, I would advise people to use Special Pilgrimages as their first port of call because Tangney Tours is disappointing and a waste of money. My mum and I will be returning to Lourdes in 2023, but it won't be with this company!

Many weeks ago our pilgrimage to the Holy Land was cancelled. Since then, despite several phone calls and emails, I've had to beg for our refund of 800. I'm told it was a technical error. Then earlier this week another 800 was taken from our account instead of being credited! Now they owe me 1,600. I'm frantic as there's still no sign of all this owed money being refunded.
