Shireburn Arms Hotel & Restaurant

We only called in for morning coffee at about 11.00am but the service was poor and the coffee was luke warm. We were the only customers and there were at least 3 members of staff front of house. The waitress was doing her hair behind the bar and drinking a coffee herself (hope hers was hot). The staff left the bar area when we went to settle up and we stood waiting to pay our 6.40 for 2 cappuccinos. Won't be going there again. What a disappointment as it used to be a great place.

Room was very nice but needed a good spring clean. Window and frames dirty and cobwebs present. Was also dark. Position of room was awful - was right at the front and service vehicles parked right outside our window - could touch them if window was open. Woken up at 05:45 by refuse collectors second morning. Breakfast was very good and dinner nice. Staff very helpful. We should have asked to be moved. Rooms: Don't stay on ground floor at the front.

Had lunch here recently. Food and beer were both good. The menu has a decent choice and is fairly standard for the decent, food based kind of pubs in the area. Can heartily recommend the black pudding fritters and the cheese and onion pie, trout and fish and chips were all good too. Unfortunately, we were full after two courses so can't report on the desserts
