JM Building

We signed a fixed price contract with JM building in October 2022 for which they tendered in August 2022. Our expectation is that since they have inspected the site a few times, took their time (2 months) to prepare and agree to a fixed price contract, they should be able to complete the agreed scope of works at the agreed price and agreed timescale. The reality is that they reported issues after attending for 2 days and asked to reduce scope of works whilst not reducing price reasonably. It took us two months to re-negotiate the revised scope and revised price primarily because 1) their communication was super slow - taking 2-3 weeks to respond, the longest response time was more than 1 month; and 2) they change the price of the contract unreasonably even though it started as a fixed price contract. When the revised scope and price were finally agreed 2 months after the project originally started (with only 1 minor amendment from the original contract), they were not able to start work within a reasonable timescale (7 days), or provide a start date of the project in accordance with the contract. We have terminated the contract accordingly. Very frustrated at how our house were left with no radiators during the coldest months of the winter in addition to the severe delay in moving in. At the time of writing (February 2023) we are still unable to get any of our deposit back. I have to say I simply do not have confidence in the integrity of this company. The communications are just very, ridiculously slow.

A brilliant company. We recently had our extension built by JM Builds. From the start they were professional and friendly. Everything was very well organised and we were constantly updated. They were easy to get hold of and responded quickly if we had any questions. They were clear and concise with schedules and billings. Costs were managed well and there were no surprises. We were billed what we thought we would be when we would be. We are so pleased with our extension. Its exactly what we asked for - great quality and finished to the perfect spec. The team are fab. From the bricklayers to the carpenter, decorator, the office team - everyone. Cannot fault them. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Big thank you to the whole team at JM Build, we had a great experience using them for our extension project, we would not hesitate to recommend them, really pleased with the results, very professional, easy to communicate with, great work ethic, and we are very much looking forward to having them back, to help us finish off our project.
