I have just returned from a stay at the Wild Duck, cutting short my stay by 2 nights because I could not stand to stay there any longer. The picture leads you to believe it is situated on its own without any neighbours. You are infact 10 meters on both sides next to other holiday homes. The access is up wooden stairs both back and front to a deck, there is at least a 12" step into the 'lounge' from the front deck Through the french doors. The floor has quite a slope towards the port side and nothing is level, so not very good for less abled people. The hallway leading to the bedrooms or cabins and bathroom is extremely narrow sloping upwards towards the stern with clutter obscuring your way. The whole place seems cluttered especially the kitchen with little space to prepare foods lamps everywhere!! The electric supply seems dubious at best with cable running around the internal walls with clips. In the children's bedroom the light fitting rose was hanging down showing the wiring inside. No fire escape routes from bedrooms shown, most windows did not open! Cleanliness was at best adequate although there was a lot of cobwebs around the windows and curtains. No broadband or internet although there should be, the cable was broken, but even when replaced it still did not work, which obsoleted certain TV and Radio service and any mobile or computer from connecting. The outside deck and furniture which was the only place to sit at a table, the glass tops were filthy and had to be cleaned before we could use them. The beach most of it was closed off because of ground nesting birds and taking our two dogs was one of the reasons of going on this so called "Dog Friendly Place" which it isn't because I was accosted by two NSPCB Persons who told me under no uncertain terms to lead my dog, who was chasing his ball on the beach as he was frightening the Wild Life, we were well outside their corden off area. I was told to go about a mile and a half up the beach if I wished to continue playing ball with my dog. We never did see any of these birds that they were on about! So after paying 880 from 16.00pm Monday till 10.00am Friday, you would expect a place to be a bit special, which we thought two adults and two dogs would be ideal. It was far from that, its tired and cluttered, and adequately clean, but could have been better alot better. It is not near any amenities unless you are a keen walker you will definitely need a car for the shops and pubs and Heacham town centre. All in all extremely disappointed, the NSPCB were the final straw and we left that afternoon. Very overpriced, I feel cheated to be honest. And it has put me off holidaying in Britain again. Overpriced/Rip Off Britain!!
