We were lucky enough to get a cancellation at the beginning of September, having had to cancel a holiday in France for Covid-19 reasons. This place proved to be more than just a "consolation prize". It was a wonderful week, very Covid safe and beautifully situated. The station waiting rooms have been converted into a lovely, quirky holiday cottage right on the station platform and it was a surreal experience sitting there with a drink and watching the trains come and go. The cottage is very well organised, with everything you could need in the kitchen, including all the necessary kitchen utensils and accessories, a full sized cooker, a microwave and even tea-towels. The bed/sitting room has an extremely comfortable bed and seating, while the bathroom has both bath and shower. The railway memorabilia that provide the decoration are a fascinating extra. Hunmanby village is well worth a visit in itself and the beach at Hunmanby Gap is magnificently scenic and extensive. And don't miss the whisky distillery just a short way up the road from the station... In short, a great value holiday!

The Old Waiting Rooms are such a wonderful place to stay. The accommodation has a great deal of character and is perfect for the railway enthusiasts out there. It is obviously at a perfect location for catching the train to Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey, with it only being a short drive to the like of Hunmanby Gap. The owners are lovely and very welcoming, I even had my coat posted to me within 24 hours after leaving without it! We've stayed a couple of times and will be back.
