Always a Nice Stay (If with kids, think twice about pool) This was our second time staying at Montcalm East. Both visits were for a little over a week and the staff went above and beyond at times to accommodate us. This most recent visit coincided with our daughter's birthday. The breakfast crew surprised her with a cake and the whole room sang Happy Birthday! Specifically, Nadine was wonderful. Each morning we were met with a warm smile and she seemed to be genuinely interested in chatting with us. She's so great and our last morning with her - we all gave her hugs. (Should also mention the breakfast buffet is really well done). This is just one of several really nice interactions we had with everyone there - Sammy and Mark to name a few of many. Overall, the Montcalm East is a stylishly comfortable stay for our family of four and is well located to the train/bus lines. My one complaint is the pool. We were made aware on our first visit of the very specific hours when kids can also swim. I'm always annoyed by this rule as the hotel is quite expensive - especially when you're staying a week! We had an encounter (on my daughter's birthday) with the staff member, Lara, who clearly doesn't have children or understand what it means to be the caretaker for more than one child. My story is too long to share, but I was very frustrated and both my kids were turned off from going back to the pool after our experience with her. *I only mention this, outlier of a staff encounter, as a heads up to anyone traveling with their kids and staying here. Also to note, there is no shallow end to the pool, so bring their floaties if your kids are not confident swimmers. The hotel has catered this pool to adults only and is essentially located within the spa experience.*
