I used this shop 12 years ago and got a great product and service so I went back there again last September 2017 to buy a new fire; I like to support local businesses. The fire was a shop demo so was reduced down to 1600 - Still not a cheap fire but looked like good value. I then found out I needed a special fitting kit which cost another 455; these things happen. As you may guess this is not a bog standard fire and cost another 500 to have fitted, all these prices seemed fair as the final result would look good. ***THE PROBLEM*** It never worked!!!! 6 weeks later the manufacturer came out to repair it and it worked for 5 minutes until he left, additionally the engineer broke the front glass on the fire in the top left corner so you could not see it when you were stood up. This was reported straight away and the fact the fire did not work. It is 19th March 2018 and the fire still does not work, 5 Months later. The GAS shop seems to think it is acceptable and said it would have worked when it left the shop!!! This is not an electric fire you can plugin to check!!! I am getting no where so I have now informed consumer direct, the bank fro a refund and GAS Safety. This was a good shop once bit from my experience a place which should now be AVOIDED at all costs ________________________UPDATE OCT 2018_________________________ I have had this fore place now for 12 months and it still DOES NOT work! This is not a cheap rubbish fire but a fire place which RRP is over 3000! Support from the shop and Manufacturer is zero, I am now taking legal action with consumer direct. I cannot suggest enough that you now avoid this local business which is a shame as I always like to support local business's. SO FINALLY SOME ACTION BUT NOT BY THE GAS SHOP OR ANY OF ITS REPRESENTATIVES. The fire has been condemned by Amey as unsafe! So no more arguments saying the fire is fine and safe! I will now look at legal action but please think carefully before using this shop. The fire I bought did not work, was dangerous and I cannot get support or warranty help.
