Ive seen my daughter flourish at Blackrod Primary School since starting in reception. Now in year 2 her understanding and level of Maths and English far surpasses what my generation was capable of at such a young age. Her ability in reading and writing scares me! Her handwriting is miles better than mine. The creative arts are a big part of the daily life of the school and have recently received the Artsmark award for their work. Personally, as a drum and percussion teacher I regularly witness music on the frontline of the battlefield when it comes to budget cuts. Not at Blackrod, its fully embraced with opportunities to learn musical instruments and a school choir who all regularly perform in and outside school! It is an Outstanding school on paper and I couldnt agree more!

I enjoyed watching the class of Mom and Dad. I'm the same age as some of the parents that took part in the 'going back to primary school challenge' and i can't believe how different school is today compared to when i was there. The teachers are more kind and caring than they used to be. My memories of school are not very pleasant at all. I was never told I was any good at anything. And if you got anything wrong they would just throw a chalk board rubber at you. I wish my headmaster was as nice as Mr Dryburgh. He encourages his pupils to succeed in what ever they want to do, and is very sympathetic when needed. Mrs Mead is such a lovely teacher. She is kind and thoughtful. I just want to give her a big hug. A big well done to the Moms and Dads that took part in the programme. From Allan and Jackie
