Visited Hopwood House where in the past I have enjoyed nice meals. Now, I won't say the food "wasn't nice.' It was ... what there was of it on the plate.
Not a single item on the starters appeared appetising, so I opted for a 'Side' instead. This was the 'Cheesy Garlic Flatbread almost devoid of cheese (I did taste it in the final two bites).
Then, having run out of my first choice main (The Rib-Eye Steak) I went for the 8oz Sirloin. However, this was the smallest steak I've ever had and I dispute totally that it was 8oz. I was told the steaks are selected by weight, not size. With that in mind, I seriously recommended the Hopwood invest in a new set of scales. The dish also included a minute flat mushroom, about the size of a 2 coin.
Chips were a decent portion but a lot of the plate was taken up with a dressing of Vine Cherry Tomatoes which were neither necessary or wanted.
For heavens sake, I know I look younger than my actual age, but nowhere near enough to warrant the 'Child Portions' put in front of me.
I turned down the option of a dessert. I didn't see why I should pay any more to the place on the basis I was still hungry.
Note: When a customer states they are not satisfied, do not try to gaslight them and make out it's their lack of understanding. I 'know' what an 8oz steak should look like. And yes, I 'could' have asked for more mushrooms. But it was obviously deemed acceptable to put the measly offering in front of me in the first place.
