This care home is absolutely amazing! The staff are excellent and go above and beyond to help their resident's & their families anyway they can. Anne (the manager) is lovely & will also go above and beyond to help you in anyway she can, always does what is best for her resident's & support's their families a great deal. Sona who does the activities is wonderful, she's very loving & caring of the residents & keeps they're mind's active either getting them up & dancing or engaged in some arts & crafts activities. Rosie I have known for a few years now who used to care for my mum part time before she worked here, I trust with my life & now as a old Raven House carer she was able to tell me how the care in this home exactly was (as I was extremely worried & anxious about having my mother go into any care home from all the horror stories you hear about neglect of resident's from staff etc) & she couldn't praise this care home & all its staff enough & it was that what made me agree to having my mum who is my bestest friend become a resident here & since she has been here, she has become a completely different woman from what she was like when she was in her own home with numerous useless, foreign live-in carers (a total of 10) over the past 2 years! When she was in her own home, she was always stuck in front of the TV, not having any exercise, mental stimulation, communication (as it was difficult to understand the carers language) refusing all of her medications, not allowing any of the live-in carers to shower/bath her, was extremely unhappy/depressed & very tearful, hardly ever slept during the night, her last carer Zainab (from Access Care) put her safety at risk when she ignored me shouting at her, (through the camera(s) I had in my mum's house) & wouldn't get out of bed about 12am after I had spotted my mum downstairs in the kitchen playing with all the knives out of the draw & ended up cutting her finger!! She even refused to cut my mum's toe nails & said it's not in her job description which meant that I had to travel over to my mum's every time she needed her finger & toe nails doing, I was also having to shower her, get her to change her underwear, put clean clothes on her & would get constant phone calls/ messages asking me to get my mum to take her medications because she always refused for the live-in carers who didn't have a clue how to treat/handle someone with Alzheimer's! From the very first day & evening my mum came to The old Raven House, she's been taking ALL of her medications, sleeping through the night, every night, has been helping in the garden, dancing (a lot) with Sona, engaging in the activities, allows Rosie to give her a bath/shower & her mood has vastly improved since being there. I could not rate the staff here enough they are that amazing. I'm even allowed to bring my Labrador with me when I visit my mum who mum adores. I definitely recommend this care home for all your loved ones.
